Chemistry
What Is Chemistry?
Chemistry is the study of the structure and properties of matter. What’s matter? It’s everything that takes up space and has mass, that’s anything that you could physically touch (if you could reach it). Matter matters! So, chemists study compounds, which are made up of atoms in elements and molecules and study what happens when those molecules are combined. Sound complicated? It is.
Chemistry is an important science which helps people in labs combine molecules in certain ways to create and improve many of the things we use in everyday living. Wouldn’t that be fun? Well, yes, if you’re pretty science-oriented, enjoy precise work, and would like to discover cool stuff that might improve the everyday life of people. Look at these job titles, and see what you think: Environmental Scientist, Forensic Scientist, Chemical Engineer, Manufacturing Quality Control Engineer, Product Design Specialist, and Medical Scientist.
