Job prospects are looking good!

- By Dr. Di

Are you worried that after you complete your education and training for your new career you won’t be able to find a job?  Not to worry, at least, according to the people who are doing the hiring!  Here are some statistics from a major survey done by the Express Employment Professionals.

It has been, and will likely continue to be, a “job candidate’s market”—my words not theirs.  Over the next few years, there will continue to be more positions available that need specific skills than there are people looking for work.  That’s a problem for companies and organizations, but a real plus for you.  In fact, over 75% of the recruiters say that it is somewhat or quite difficult to fill their open positions now.  Nearly half say that there are not enough available applicants or not enough applicants with experience.  Plus, most businesses predict that the need for new employees will increase or at least stay the same.

So, what does this mean for you?  It means that if you choose your career well, get the education and training required, and get some work experience along the way—internships, apprenticeships, practicums, part-time jobs—you’ll be one of the graduates in demand.  And, that’s a good thing.
