Human Development

What Is Human Development?

The field of Human Development looks at how people change from birth to death with the purpose of coming up with ideas on ways to improve their lives.  People in the field look at the physical characteristics or people, how they think, and how they interact with other people throughout their lifespan.

So, if you choose this field, you may be involved with new born babies, little kids, teenagers, or grown-ups.  Some professionals focus mainly on families and how they live and grow together.   If you have compassion for other people—find them interesting to observe and think about—and think of yourself as a “big picture” person, then check out this field.  Some job titles are Teacher (of all grade levels), Community Outreach Worker, Social Worker, Child Advocate Case Worker, Probation Officer, and Human Services Screener.
