What is A Child Life (BS) Degree?

With a BS degree in Child Life you will be able to work with children and families in a variety of settings to help them cope with the challenges related to a child’s illness, hospitalization, or other stressful issues. The BS degree program in Child Life will include courses in subjects like child and adolescent development, family psychology, loss and grief, and others.  In addition to holding the BS degree, almost all positions in this field require the applicant to hold a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) accreditation approved by the Association of Child Life Professionals.  Certain courses and an internship will be required to be able to take that exam.
