Biochemistry

What Is Biochemistry?

Biochemistry has to do with the chemical processes that are related to the functioning of living organisms—all the chemical stuff that is going on in plants, animals, and the human body.  The field brings together chemistry and biology to answer questions and solve problems related to the growth of cells and diseases that affect the health of the world.  This work may involve working with health professionals, engineers, physicists, policy makers, and others in various universities, forensic units, laboratories, etc.  The outlook for the future of this field is strong.  If you have the interest and ability in the sciences, want to solve mysteries to make life better for all creatures and plants, and are willing to, at times, devote hours to detailed, precise work, you would fit right in to this career.  Who knows?  You might even have a disease or syndrome named after you because of your work!
