Sound Engineering Technology (AS)

What is A Sound Engineering Technology (AS) Degree?

Sound or audio engineers produce and record sound for broadcasting, recording studios, and other organizations who may present performances, seminars, and presentations.  In an AS degree program in Sound Engineering Technology students learn the science connected with the production of sound and will get hands-on experience working with equipment like microphones, mixers, and sounds boards.

Students of sound engineering learn about auditory signals and ranges and take courses in acoustic planning and recording methods, how to check sounds and mixtures, and how to adjust sound according to the configurations of the space.  The program may also cover music writing skills and music business management.  With the AS degree, students will be ready for entry-level positions as sound techs, broadcast technicians, and assistant studio managers.
