Nursing Education (MSN)

What is A Nursing Education (MSN) Degree?

Nurses treat the sick and injured.  In today’s world, using an evidence-based approach is widely accepted, with nurses being trained to use documented research results, best practices, and patient desires to decide on the best treatment strategies.  Some nurses specialize in areas like pediatrics, surgery, nurse midwife, and nurse practitioner, most of which require additional training.

MSN degree programs in Nursing Education are designed to prepare licensed nurses to teach in schools of nursing, hospital education settings, and patient education programs.  This MSN program is usually a rigorous one which may cover core Master’s level nursing training in advanced clinical courses–things like assessment, pharmacology, and pathophysiology–while also covering the education-related subjects of principles of teaching, tests/measurements, curriculum development, and other pedagogies.  You’ll probably spend a significant amount of time working with an experienced nursing educator to practice the skills you’re learning.  It’s important that you select an MSN program in Nursing Education that is accredited, so that you can be licensed for the area where you’ll be working.
