Communication Arts, Advertising (BA)

What is A Communication Arts, Advertising (BA) Degree?

Communication Arts looks at various kinds of communications between people, between cultures, and between organizations done through journalism, media outlets, TV, public relations, advertising, and all kinds on business communications. Students working on the BA degree with a specialty in Advertising will learn how to examine potential customers to determine how they will react to various advertising campaigns:  Will they buy in or not as a result of the advertising of the product?

This is a field in which creative communication strategies are critical to success.  Students learn how to create advertising campaigns from start to finish, managing the design and implementation.  Then they’ll learn how to evaluate the results to determine the campaign’s effectiveness.  You’ll take courses in things like advertising communication, drawing, promotions, sales, media planning, and computer publishing.  You’ll get hands-on experience and probably develop a major campaign in the last year of the program.

The video below discusses a “typical” program, so it should help regardless of which school you are considering.
