Cognitive Neuroscience (PhD)

What is A Cognitive Neuroscience (PhD) Degree?

Cognitive Neuroscience involves the biological processes, especially the neural connections in the brain and central nervous system, that are involved in cognition (the mental activities connected with thinking and understanding).  You need to have a BA or BS degree in biology, psychology, philosophy or a related area to apply to a PhD degree program in Neuroscience.

Once you’re in the program you’ll probably take courses from a number of different departments like psychology, medicine, philosophy, and neurobiology. In your coursework you’ll be examining human perception, information processing, memory, and other topics from the perspective of the various disciplines.  With this degree you’ll be able to teach, do research, or direct research projects into brain functioning.

The video below discusses a “typical” program, so it should help regardless of which school you are considering.
