What is A Art, Digital Art (BFA) Degree?

Most people can’t agree on what Art is or what makes good or bad art.  But, despite that, many people are working in the field.  The field of Art, at least where careers are concerned, involves the creation of a tangible product of the artist’s imagination, arranged in forms, sounds, or words.  The objects that are produced, sometimes using the computer, are often seen as beautiful, controversial, or thought-provoking.

In a BFA degree program in Digital Arts students will learn how to incorporate digital technology using computers to assist in creating art.  They will probably take some electives in the Studio Arts to broaden their portfolio of possibilities.  Specific skills will include 2-dimensional, 3-dimentional, and graphics software applications, along with gaming, 3-D printing, and motion capture.  You’ll work on numerous projects and visit various studios to see digital artists working at their craft.  The BFA degree will prepare for a professional level position in the film and gaming industries using the digital arts.

The video below discusses a “typical” program, so it should help regardless of which school you are considering.
