What is An Accounting Technology (AS) Degree?

The AS degree in Accounting Technology will prepare you to be an assistant or clerk in an accounting office like payroll, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or tax preparation.  Getting the AS in Accounting Tech can lead to an entry-level position on the financial side of the business and could help you to get experience in the field while working on your BS degree.

Courses will cover the basic accounting skills you’ll need for the field—basic accounting and cost accounting—and then more applied functions like tax, payroll, and financial report analysis. It’s unlikely that you will get the broad business knowledge that is covered with a BS degree in the field, however.
