Economics (MS)

What is A Economics (MS) Degree?

Economics is the science of compiling and analyzing how markets work.  That involves not only a critical look at statistical measures but also at basic human behavior and how the two affect each other.  Economics answers the basic question of how people and companies decide how to use their limited resources, resources like time and money, to produce the most value.  It involves taking a broad view of what’s happening in the world to figure out how value is exchanged.

To be accepted into an MS degree program in Economics you’ll need to have some kind of a Bachelor’s degree.  One in Economics is ideal, but as long as you’ve studied Micro- and Macroeconomics, calculus, and statistics—courses like that—you’ll probably qualify.  Master’s level courses will include more work in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, and you’ll probably choose a specialty and take courses in that area.  You’ll probably need to complete a major project or a thesis to complete the MS degree.
