What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that looks at misalignments in the spine and nervous system and makes adjustments that can help with various pains and disorders in the joints, muscles, and organs throughout the body.   They use hands-on manipulations and other treatment procedures like massage and mild electrical stimulation, with the goal that the body can heal itself without surgery or medication once it is properly aligned.  Chiropractic Physicians or Chiropractors also recommend exercises, dietary guidelines, and give lifestyle advice to help with the patients’ problems, plus, they may refer patients to other health providers where indicated.

Thinking about Chiropractic? You’ll need a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree to become a Chiropractor, and to get into one of colleges of Chiropractic you’ll need at least 90 semester hours of undergraduate college courses.  Most students get a Bachelor’s degree in one of the sciences, since not only the biological sciences are important in this field, but also the physical sciences like physics.  Does this all sound good to you?  You can be part of the medical community and help people in pain with as little intervention as possible.  Job titles are things like Chiropractor, Chiropractic Assistant, Associate Chiropractor, Sports Chiropractic Associate, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Family Practice/Primary Care Chiropractor.
