What is A Environmental Science, Policy Track (BS) Degree?

Environmental Science is a multi-disciplinary approach that studies the environment – the relationship between that world and the organisms in it.  It’s a branch of biology that uses chemistry, physics, ecology, and other sciences to explain the impacts of living things on the environment, like in the recent focus on man-made global warming.  If you want to approach environmental issues from a policy standpoint instead of being a scientist doing research, a concentration in Policy is the way to go.

This degree is a good place to start in qualifying for entry-level work.  To earn this degree, you’ll take courses in both the natural sciences—biology, chemistry, physics, ecology—as well as in fields like sociology and political science so you can see the social factors that affect the relationships between society and the environment.  You’ll also study things like environmental law, public policy, environmental economics, and urban planning. The degree will prepare you work in both the private and public sectors.
