Global Economics (BS)

What is A Global Economics (BS) Degree?

Economics is the science of compiling and analyzing how markets work.  That involves not only a critical look at statistical measures but also at basic human behavior and how the two affect each other.  Economics answers the basic question of how people and companies decide to use their limited resources–like time and money– to produce the most value.  Global economics looks at how all the economies in the world operate together; the field offers a way of looking at the world as if it were one economy because of all the interconnections that exist.

With a BS degree in Global Economics you’ll learn about the global credit system in regard to hedge funds, central banks, mortgage markets, and how credit is extended from one economy to another.  You’ll learn how to analyze economic activity to figure out how it has changed over the years and what has led to these changes.  You may be able to focus on particular geographic regions and could have a study abroad experience in that part of the world.  You’ll take courses in subjects like microeconomics, macroeconomics, international banking, global politics, and study the language of your region of choice, while learning about its history and culture.  With your BS in Global Economics you could work as a credit, investment, or financial risk analyst, an accountant, or statistician.

The video below discusses a “typical” program, so it should help regardless of which school you are considering.
